We're Brothers, We're happy...

Your father must be a good lawyer, because both the Landrey Children are lieing skunks. (except Allison who is a fine upstanding member of society) But look at the two brothers. One helps special needs children as an educator (this is both lucrative and selfish) and the other pursues a life as an academic (The study of classics implies an arrogant value judgement, since I have read none of them, I assume they are NOT classics at all.) Either way I am glad they both have a chance to destroy each other.

Bill Gerrard is also a fink and a charleton

Matt provided no help at all

Barring a miracle, or my chinese friend getting arrested for REAL this time by the Chinese government, I assume this will be my last turn. To Quote Tiny Tim 2 weeks before he died of Polio, "God Bless us, Every one"

Spring 1903 Results

This was the turn of foiled moves, as there were no fewer than 10 bounces/cut supports. Despite this relative stasis, in the North the Anglo-Germanic alliance moves into position for an all-out attack on Russia's north while in Central Europe, France and Austria are under siege. Things are setup for a critical Fall movement . . .

The moves:

The results:

There is only one retreat: Austria must leave Vienna for Tyrolia, Bohemia, or off the board. Please get this move to me by Midnight on Tuesday.

1902 - An Illustrated History

TICK TOCK TICK TOCK

Matt stocks up on French supply centers so that he stands a chance against the juggernaut -- but in doing so, he abandons Tom to his fate. Don't worry, Tom: it'll all be over soon...

MORE THAN KIN AND LESS THAN KIND

What Owen lacks in familial solidarity, he makes up for in supply centers.

Fall 1902 Results

A fourway alliance between Austria, Italy, England, and Germany appears to have emerged this turn, with the joint goals of blocking further progress by the Russo-Turkish alliance and wiping France off the map. The juggernaut gained some ground in the South, but Russia's northern flank is now under siege by the combined might of the British and Germany armies. Yes, things are certainly heating up!

Many questions are now open: Can Russia continue to gain ground while attempting to defend himself in the North? Or will he become nothing but a meat-shield for Turkey's advances in the South? Can France hold out until assistance arrives in some form, or will Lisbon soon be speaking Italian?

The moves:

The Results:

France must retreat it's army from Spain to either Portugal or Gascony (or disband). Retreats will be due on Monday at midnight, with builds due Tuesday at midnight.

Winners and Losers

I think at this point, we have a clear indication of how this game is going to end. The battleground will be on Russia's northern provinces. Will the English-German alliance reach the soft underbelly of Russia before the motherland raises her defenses? My opinion, no. No, they will get bogged down, and being creating a stalemate line on the northern front. St. Petersburg may fall this turn, but Moscow will not. In the south, Turkey will crush Italy and Austria-Hungary. Sorry Tom, you were right from the start. No one loves your Hitler raising country. Die your death so that other may die after you. France will slowly be gnawed to bits by Italy, but not before Italy falls victim to a similar fate from his Turkish neighbor. You should have been a better wing man Matt. You got greedy with France and you let Tom fall prey to Russia and Turkey. Now you will suffer the consequences. So in summation, the winners, Turkey, with Russia taking a back seat. The losers, Austria, Italy, and France. The survivor, Germany. And that leaves England. I hate England. So isolated up there in the northwest. Where will he end up? That remains to be seen, espically with Bill in command. Good luck to all of you.

Spring 1902 Results

The battlelines are really coming together now. Italy appears to have abandoned Austria to its fate, instead hoping to gather enough spoils in the West to put up a valiant defense when the juggernaut finally rolls up to his shores. Austria's last-minute gambit that Turkey would turn on Russia has fallen through, and the juggernaut in the East has new been proven at least a bit durable. Meanwhile England and Germany appear ready to make Italy the bottom slice of bread in a tasty France sandwich.

Pizza Box Diplomacy

I thought you'd all appreciate this story via Boing Boing.

On a high school trip to Costa Rica a bunch of nerds kids made a makeshift Diplomacy board out of a pizza box.
