1907 - An Illustrated History

R.I.P.
Owen was in the unenviable position of being situated between a juggernaut and the English navy. Of course, it didn't help that he was distracted by his summer camp duties, which involved wielding absolute power over a malnourished legion in the middle of the godforsaken woods. Mistah Kurtz, he dead.

JUGGERNAUT?
More like jugger-naught.

1902 - An Illustrated History

TICK TOCK TICK TOCK

Winners and Losers

I think at this point, we have a clear indication of how this game is going to end. The battleground will be on Russia's northern provinces. Will the English-German alliance reach the soft underbelly of Russia before the motherland raises her defenses? My opinion, no. No, they will get bogged down, and being creating a stalemate line on the northern front. St. Petersburg may fall this turn, but Moscow will not. In the south, Turkey will crush Italy and Austria-Hungary. Sorry Tom, you were right from the start. No one loves your Hitler raising country. Die your death so that other may die after you. France will slowly be gnawed to bits by Italy, but not before Italy falls victim to a similar fate from his Turkish neighbor. You should have been a better wing man Matt. You got greedy with France and you let Tom fall prey to Russia and Turkey. Now you will suffer the consequences. So in summation, the winners, Turkey, with Russia taking a back seat. The losers, Austria, Italy, and France. The survivor, Germany. And that leaves England. I hate England. So isolated up there in the northwest. Where will he end up? That remains to be seen, espically with Bill in command. Good luck to all of you.

1901 - An Illustrated History

TOM PREPARES A GRACEFUL EXIT
Despite not losing any home centers, and the fact that he once before stared down death as Austria-Hungary and wound up in second place, AND the fact that he would appear to have an ally in Italy, Tom is convinced that he is stillborn. Tom, do not go gentle into that good night...

MY, WHAT BIG ARMIES YOU HAVE, GRANDMA!

All the better to invade you with, my dear.

A DRESS REHEARSAL OF LEO'S THESIS DEFENSE

Zzzzzzzzzzz
This blog has become BORING. Where's the smack talk? The insults? The death threats? The schadenfreude? I may have taken it all a bit too far last game, but if you guys aren't going to impugn each other's honor or delight in other's suffering, then you might as well be playing online bridge.

1904 - An Illustrated History

"FOR HATE'S SAKE,
I SPIT MY LAST BREATH AT THEE"
ABOVE: Tom is regretting voting for that stupid ranking system right about now.

"I GET BY WITH A LITTLE HELP
FROM MY FRIENDS"
ABOVE: Tony cradles his most cherished possession. Now whose security interests are served by an English invasion of Italy, I wonder...

THE PROCESSOR'S PLIGHT
ABOVE: Tony is cracking under the weight of his responsibilities. He shouldn't feel bad, though. Processing is a hard job. Not all men can do it.

a dish best served warm

The End of Turkey

It's time for the part of the game where I feel sorry for myself. The difference between the last several times and this one? I won't be making a comeback or trying for one either. My position is so poor strategically I just don't see the point. Despite my attempts at having allies all of my overtures with neighbors and friends seem to have fallen on deaf ears or been passed off for better offers. I have nothing to offer except my carcass, and I won't dignify that idea with more than a moment's consideration. It stands to reason that the first time I get a decent draw I'll be eliminated in a few short turns. All my units will hold this round...as they will continue to do until I am eliminated. You can choose to believe this is another ploy on my part or not, it doesn't matter. Nothing I said in this game to anyone appears to have been listened to. Give me a ring in a few months when it starts up again. Good luck to the other 6 players.
P.S. - Any email from anyone nearby looking for my units to lend them a helping hand will be thrown in the trash without being read, as will anything concialiatory from anyone. Happy New Year.

Spring 1902 - An Illustrated History

HAREM SCAREM
Matt, Josh, Owen and Craig perform a good old fashioned Turkish Bone Job on Tom -- a move attempted by yours truly last game, with poor follow-through. In truth, death comes as something of a relief to Tom's harem, as they were all getting sick and tired of being told they needed to watch Battlestar Galactica.
